Dear authors and readers, today I want to bring to you a post in memory of Giorgio Faletti, a famous Italian writer who is not longer with us. The career of this writer could be much longer if the early death had not taken away Giorgio from us forever. Mr. Giorgio Faletti was a comedian, actor, singer also, and, at last, a writer. I can say that writing marked the final stage of the career of Giorgio Faletti. He was born in Asti ( Piemonte - Italy) in 1950 and died in Turin in 2014. He debuted on the Italian television together with famous, Italian show girl Raffaella Carrà, but the real success arrived with a cult program of the commercial Italian TV: Drive In, where Faletti played the role of a strange and odd policeman called Vito Catozzo and a very comedian nun walking on a skateboard. In 1994, Faletti won the second place at the Festival of Sanremo, namely the show of the Italian song, with a song written by him and entitled: Signor Tenente, a memory of the Mafia massacres happened in Capaci and Via D’Amelio ( Palermo - Sicily) in 1992. About the literary career, Faletti started writing books in 1995, by drawing inspiration from the characters played as a comedian. But in 2002, Giorgio Faletti was capable to shock readers and critique, thanks to a thriller book entitled: Io Uccido ( I Kill )a bestseller that sold over 4 million copies. Io Uccido is the story of a cruel, mysterious and a merciless serial killer who, during an anonymous phone call, confesses to kill famous and successful people only to heal his illness. Io Uccido was released in 2002 by publisher Baldini & Castoldi. In 2004, always with the same publisher, Faletti released another successful, mystery novel: Niente di vero tranne gli occhi ( The Killer in My Eyes), a book that sold 3 million copies and which was also rewarded with a prestigious praise, the one of Jeffery Deaver, a famous, American, thriller writer who said: “In my Country, one who is like Faletti is called: larger than life, one who’ll become a legend!”. In 2009, always for Baldini & Castoldi, Faletti released another unforgettable novel entitled: Io sono Dio (I Am God). That is the story of a former American soldier survived the Vietnam war. Although this man remained alive, he was severely injured by burns which made his face misshapen. The style of writing of Giorgio Faletti is dry, sharp, perfect and highly gripping. His books can easily challenge the most famous American bestsellers and show his intense passion for the American crime thriller stories. Indeed, Faletti’s books don’t have nothing to envy to American movies like “Criminal Minds”. It is not easy writing thriller stories where the plot must always be compelling and coherent to not lose the initial stream of the story. Faletti was able to arrange and intertwine his characters so much to make them true, alive and fearsome. Here is because I dedicated a post to this excellent and clever Italian writer. In July of 2014, Faletti died in Turin for lung cancer. If he was still with us, I am sure he would have written many other bestsellers. Once, during an interview, a reporter asked to him: “Are you happy?”. Maybe Giorgio Faletti was already ill, but he replied firmly : “Yes, I am. I got all I wanted in my life, with my success and with my writing, there is no reason to complain…”. Giorgio Faletti, indeed, was also a successful dramatic actor for Cinema and TV. Really unforgettable your works, Mr. Giorgio Faletti. This article is in memory of you. Source of the image: keespopinga.blogspot.com
