When I browsed the first pages of this book on my tablet. I said to myself: Wow, this time Linda S. Rice has written an excellent and extraordinary plot! Indeed, I am discussing about the book e of the Necklace series, a time travel romance written by the talented and self published author Linda S. Rice. I have already reviewed the other books of the series, namely the book 1, the book 2 and the book3 and since in my country it is said that there is not three without the four, here I am to review the book 4 also, subtitled: Brighton - December, 1999
. In my view, this book is extraordinary because it has a high level of emotional strain. The other books of the series are beautiful and amazing, also, but this book, just because it is a sequel, has been written to keep readers glued to the several pages of the story and I can say that I am very happy to review another excellent book, an enjoyable reading made to amuse and lead people to think about some important issues relating to the relationship between men and women. With this book, the author was able to not bother readers, but to amuse them. I was not only amused but also impressed by this reading because it is filled with well arranged twists and a few details that allowed me to discover some resemblances of the fictional characters with some important persons of the real life, but let’s go in the chronological order. Let’s start first of all from the plot! In the previous book, Susan was about to get married with James, she was in 1967 in London, in the body of a charming 22 year old girl, Susan remained even pregnant of James (it is very normal, seen that the two characters made love every time they met). James gave the engagement ring to Susan and the wedding day, she waited for her loved girl in front of the Church, but the two friends, Alice and Joy pushed the button of the iPhone app and came back to the future along with Susan. In the book 4, indeed, Susan is always an old sixty year woman who was unable to forgive herself for having abandoned James in the past just on the their wedding day. She is much depressed and detached from her husband and her daughter Michelle, nearly insensitive to her family. Michelle is able to pull out of the mouth of her mother, her shameful secret, and namely she travelled backwards in time to meet James, her first love. Michelle is also able to contact one of the two women in Haiti who sent Susan and her friends in the past in the previous episodes of The Necklace. One of the women died and Michelle gets only in touch with one of them who is anyway able to send people backwards in time. This time, the witch of Haiti sends just Michelle and her mother, Susan, in the past, but not in the fabulous 1960s, but in 1999, when the by now very famous James, after his wife died of a brain tumor, decides to come back to Brighton at the Dusky Club where he performed for the first time with his band and met for the first time Susan! Susan and Michelle arrive in 1999 in the body and the age they really were in that year, 54 Susan and 24 Michelle! They are two beautiful and very attractive women. James recognizes Susan and his son, Thomas, notices Michelle. The latter will feel for Thomas the same feelings Susan felt for James. Also in this book , there are great love and sex moments, even though the story starts with James who, furious for being abandoned by Susan in 1967, nearly rapes her and as soon as finished to have sex with her, screams: “You wanted only being fucked by me and I fucked you!” Sharp and cold words that hurt Susan and that open the way to another compelling and exciting time travel story. But who is really James? Thomas tells Michelle, Susan’s daughter, that his father during his career, wrote a song just titled Michelle. The wife of James dead of a brain tumor, the song titled Michelle, and so? Who could James be? I have already understood.
