How long do you take to write a book?

This once, the question cannot be solved easily. To reply to this question is not at all so easy. Why? Because book writing time depends on many factors, the main one is the type of book that an author is about to write.  Page numbers are the second important item which can influence writing time. According to the opinions of many famous writers, for a book, writing time runs from some months to many years. Just think, to write a best seller book, you could even have taken seven years to write it!   Usually, a good book takes much time to be written, especially to be written like a good and successful book. I don’t believe in those authors affirming they can write a good book in a very few months only. Book writing is the final stage of a creative process that demands source research, draw editing, rewriting and many editorial interventions to set the final format of the book. Book writing time also depends on the kind of book and not only on the number of pages. An essay book can take less time to write it, but this statement is not always true. An historical book, for instance, can take many years to be written and edited. I would say that the book which take less time to be written is the opinion one. If I write a book about my only political opinion, it is possible I take only a few weeks or months to write it. And about a biographical book? This type of work is not always easy to write. In this case, time writing depends on the kind of life and experience the author has lived. Generally, a writer creates his/her biographical book when his/her life deserves to be told to readers. Obviously, a biography on others’ life takes much time to be written, since this story needs to be sourced with carefully researches and interviews with persons who are the characters of biography. Now, I get to the other important issue: writing time for a fiction book. Although it is an imaginative work, a fiction must be deeply sourced with witnesses, other books and similar stories, in order to get ideas and inspiration to create a new compelling fiction novel. For a fiction, writing time is also influenced by its background. An historical fiction takes very long to be written because the author needs many historical evidences. For instance, a famous novelist like Glenn Cooper needs to read over 300 books to write his historical novels. To conclude this post, I can admit very well that writing time is fundamental to create a successful book. Rather, we can affirm that writing time is proportional to a successful book. The more you take to write it, the more your book can be successful. Never skimp your time to write a book, time is never wasted, but a good strategy to edit and set your book with a high writing style, a compelling content and excellent chances to get up to the hearth of readers.
